The 10X RuleHappy Sunday everyone! đ§łThis week was the first time I needed to record my weekly video on the road, which brings a new set of challenges when your travel baseline is only carry-ons. The key to overcoming this challenge was planning, a commitment to the promise of delivering a product. Both topics lead to this weekâs feature topic - The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone. Writing about productivity and business tends to be a double-edged sword, today is no exception. A few weeks ago, I wrote about The Family First Entrepreneur by Steve Chou, focusing on proper prioritization to meet your goals. My initial thoughts - these two concepts were opposed, but the more I think about it, they can and should work together. Creating goals and a value system allows you to choose what you want to focus your approximately 4000 weeks on. |
There are links throughout the email to the books and creators that shared this information with me, and at this point, nothing is sponsored or affiliate links, so just sharing because I thought the content was worth sharing. During the video released this week, I focused on four critical nuggets from The 10X Rule, which focused on increasing execution performance with extraordinary efforts. The four tenants are:
For todayâs conversation, we should use a notional goal to thread the concepts together. The goal for this exercise is to post one video per week on the main YouTube Channel. đŻAim for higher than averageFocusing on being average means your best results are at best average. The catch is if you aim for average and you miss you may land below average. The 10X Rule is written for people that want to go above and beyond average with their life and business. âShoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.â - Normal Vincent Peale A key to growing a YouTube channel is to consistently post engaging and valuable content. Right now, Iâm focusing on posting weekly, learning the craft of video creation, and ideally improving every week. My goal is to produce a weekly video related to a business or productivity topic focused on some book or literature that I found intriguing. Even now, the average small business is not using video medium to distribute content to the community and engage with their customers directly. I am in the process of growing my community by delivering value first and delivering products or services later. â˛ď¸Account for 10X the effort required to meet your goalHave you started working on a project to discover that you greatly underestimated the time or effort was to complete it? Me too! The next step of the 10X rule is to account for 10X the effort required to meet your goal. By accounting for 10X the effort of the goal, you are not discouraged if it took longer to complete than your initial estimate, you learn patience. By accounting for 10X the effort you arenât overwhelmed with the setbacks, you learn resistance and persistence. When you reach your goal on time or early, you are proud and relieved you met your goal and will transfer that energy and drive to your next goal. Pulling on my goal thread, the average time for creating a video is 1 hour per minute of content. I will concede that I do not want to 10X this, but I do 5X this, between reading the book, crafting a script (not just using ChatGPT), filming⌠I spend about 5 hours per minute on video produced. Another reason, I want to improve in the tradecraft of making videos so for each video, the learning curve is lessened. By planning 5X the time to produce the video, set aside enough time to complete all the tasks needed to create the video and deliver it weekly. Now I have yet to hit my goal of releasing the video on Thursday at 7 pm, but I have more work to do on that. đShoot for 10X the result of your goalJust as you should plan for 10X effort, you should also aim for 10X the result of your goal. The process to make $1,000 is not the same as making $10,000 or $100,000. By aiming for 10X results, you'll create a plan that scales with your ambitions, setting the stage for exponential growth and success in your business. For the on-going example, my goal is to continue with creating videos and writing the newsletter for the foreseeable future. The result eventually will be another stream of income, though affiliate links and product development. But at this point the result is to continue building the community. Starting in the next two weeks, Iâm going to dedicate more time and effort into the content and build the system to deliver more content consistently and with less overhead. đŞđ˝Chase after your goals with massive actionsThe final piece of the 10X Rule is to pursue your goals with massive action. This means not just going about your normal day or retreating from challenges, but actively pushing forward and taking bold steps towards your goals. Whether it's rewriting a business proposal, improving your product, or overhauling your marketing strategy, massive action is the key to achieving business success. Doing the bare minimum to survive is not going to get you over the next hurdle, striving for a goal through significant and massive actions will move you closer to the goal line. The massive action I took a few weeks ago was to start the channel without any real experience with video creation and a general dislike of public speaking. The only way to get over something is to find areas of improvement and seek to overcome adversity. Overcoming something is not done through inaction but rather some action. đWhatâs Next?Next week, Iâll be reviewing The Unfair Advantage by Ash Ali & Hasan Kubba. If there is something you want me to review, or if you have any questions or comments, please shoot me an email. â Until next time, keep creating, keep sharing, and stay inspired. Thanks! - Cyle H. |

Seasons Greetings! Happy New Year! I hope your 2025 is off to a fantastic start, whether youâre still recovering from last nightâs confetti explosion or already drafting your resolutions. Letâs raise a glass (coffee or otherwise) to new beginnings, fresh ideas, and maybe some less questionable karaoke decisions this year. If youâve been wondering where this newsletter wandered off to, youâre not alone. Itâs been hibernatingâbut unlike the snacks I ate during the break, itâs not gone for good....
Happy Sunday Friend, đď¸ The last couple of weeks were crazy with travel getting reestablished at work and home and starting on two new ideas that Iâll share with the group as they get closer to kicking off to the public. Unfortunately, my video plans for the last couple of weeks were dashed, but I will be returning this week. So what do I write about now? Well, one of the two ideas that I am working on is starting a small community outreach for disadvantaged kids in Washington, DC. đŹMy lovely...
Hey Friend! Just got back from a fantastic week floating along the Northeastern coast of the USA and Canada, I had a great time thinking about all the things I want to do with the YouTube channel, the newsletter, and a few other ideas I have coming down the pipe. I will be releasing the video tomorrow, the video is about Tiago Forteâs PARA method. Here are the important notes that I took away and will share in the video. đ Uncluttering Life with PARA! đ Feeling swamped amidst a sea of digital...
